Hey, everyone, and welcome back to

(02:33.4 - 02:35.2)

Queens On A Roll podcast.

(02:35.3 - 02:37.9)

This is Latavia here, and I have

(02:37.9 - 02:41.0)

my lovely Aunt Valerie on with me today.

(02:41.2 - 02:42.5)

Hey, Auntie.

(02:42.7 - 02:43.8)

Hey, Niecey

(02:43.9 - 02:44.8)

How you doing?

(02:45.0 - 02:46.2)

I'm doing fine.

(02:46.3 - 02:47.4)

How you doing?

(02:47.6 - 02:49.2)

I am blessed.

(02:49.2 - 02:50.5)

and highly favored.

(02:50.5 - 02:53.0)

That is great. That is great.

(02:53.0 - 02:55.0)

So today I brought you on

(02:55.1 - 02:58.4)

to talk about your cancer journey.

(02:58.4 - 03:00.9)

Oh yes! Are you ready?

(03:00.9 - 03:05.3)

Yes I am. Alright Let's Roll

(03:05.4 - 03:54.5)

(Instrumental Music)

(03:54.5 - 03:58.4)

So auntie can you tell us a little bit about your cancer journey

(03:58.4 - 03:59.5)

And what was it like?

(03:59.5 - 04:03.2)

Well, only thing I can say is that every

(04:03.3 - 04:08.3)

woman and male should be examined yearly for cancer.

(04:08.4 - 04:11.0)

And I will tell you where my journey

(04:11.0 - 04:14.4)

started, because you know the side effects that people normally

(04:14.4 - 04:16.0)

have, my body didn't do that.

(04:16.0 - 04:18.8)

And in fact, if it wasn't for my primary

(04:18.8 - 04:22.2)

care doctor, the cancer would have gone unnoticed.

(04:22.3 - 04:25.7)

So I went for my gyn appointment, which I do

(04:25.8 - 04:28.5)

every year, and every year they tell me, no problems.

(04:28.6 - 04:30.6)

Every year they take a biopsy and they

(04:30.7 - 04:32.6)

do the pap test, and every year they

(04:32.6 - 04:34.9)

tell me it's no problem, everything is fine.

(04:35.0 - 04:38.0)

However, prior to going to my gyn doctor, I

(04:38.0 - 04:40.7)

had went to my primary care doctor because I

(04:40.7 - 04:44.0)

was suffering with pain in my abdomen from hernias.

(04:44.1 - 04:46.4)

And that's where the um primary care

(04:46.5 - 04:48.5)

doctor decided to do an MRI.

(04:48.6 - 04:50.7)

And when he got the results back, he said

(04:50.7 - 04:52.9)

he did not like the way it looked.

(04:53.0 - 04:55.1)

So that started my journey.

(04:55.2 - 04:58.3)

He um told me to go to my gym doctor.

(04:58.4 - 05:00.7)

I went there, she said everything was fine.

(05:00.8 - 05:03.6)

But because of the MRI, my

(05:03.7 - 05:05.8)

doctor said he didn't like it.

(05:05.8 - 05:10.0)

And he got in touch with the gyn doctor's supervisor,

(05:10.1 - 05:13.6)

and from that, they decided to do an endoscopy and

(05:13.6 - 05:17.5)

they went further up inside the uterus and lo and

(05:17.5 - 05:19.8)

behold, that's where they found the cancer.

(05:19.9 - 05:22.3)

Wow, that's definitely deep.

(05:22.4 - 05:24.7)

So when you got the news that

(05:24.7 - 05:27.4)

it was cancer, how did you feel?

(05:27.5 - 05:28.7)

What was that like?

(05:28.8 - 05:30.8)

When the doctor told me that it

(05:30.8 - 05:33.6)

was cancer, I just couldn't say anything.

(05:33.8 - 05:35.1)

you know you'd be stunned.

(05:35.3 - 05:38.0)

You know you don't know whether to cry or whether to sit there.

(05:38.0 - 05:40.4)

But I know that my faith is in God.

(05:40.4 - 05:42.6)

And the doctor was surprised because

(05:42.7 - 05:44.3)

I didn't break out in tears.

(05:44.4 - 05:45.7)

I didn't ask any questions.

(05:45.8 - 05:46.9)

And she said, Ms.

(05:46.9 - 05:48.6)

Blanding did you hear what I said?

(05:48.7 - 05:50.1)

And I said yes, I heard you.

(05:50.1 - 05:51.1)

She said I said, you have

(05:51.2 - 05:53.4)

cancer and it's in stage four.

(05:53.5 - 05:55.1)

I said, I heard you.

(05:55.2 - 05:57.6)

She said, I'm gonna tell you it doesn't look good.

(05:57.7 - 06:00.3)

And I repeated to her again, I heard you.

(06:00.4 - 06:03.0)

She said, Well, I must say, you're taking it very well.

(06:03.1 - 06:07.2)

And I said, that's because I know a God who is able

(06:07.3 - 06:11.7)

to heal my body, right and I have a relationship with God that

(06:11.7 - 06:14.7)

I know he will hear me and answer my prayer. Right.

(06:14.8 - 06:18.7)

So, of course, I had to start the chemo right away.

(06:18.8 - 06:21.4)

Let me tell you people, the journey

(06:21.5 - 06:24.8)

with the chemo, chemo can be wicked.

(06:24.9 - 06:26.7)

It can be very wicked.

(06:26.7 - 06:29.5)

The side effects, I was blessed.

(06:29.5 - 06:32.9)

I'll say the first four chemos, I really didn't

(06:33.0 - 06:36.3)

have nausea, I didn't get sick, none of that.

(06:36.4 - 06:39.1)

But on the second chemo that I took,

(06:39.1 - 06:41.8)

what happened was my dreadlocks fell out.

(06:41.8 - 06:44.9)

And I was upset about that. I really was.

(06:44.9 - 06:47.3)

In fact, I actually sat and cried about it.

(06:47.4 - 06:49.5)

And even thinking about it now, it upsets

(06:49.6 - 06:51.7)

because my hair was down my back.

(06:51.7 - 06:52.7)

It was beautiful.

(06:52.8 - 06:56.0)

And for me now to be bald, it hurt me. You know

(06:56.2 - 06:59.2)

But it's either the hair goes or you die.

(06:59.3 - 07:00.9)

So what you gon do?

(07:01.0 - 07:02.6)

I had to take the chemo, and

(07:02.6 - 07:04.4)

so I started the chemo journey.

(07:04.6 - 07:07.8)

I had taken four sets of the chemo, and then

(07:07.9 - 07:10.8)

on the fifth set of the chemo, I had an

(07:10.8 - 07:13.7)

allergic reaction, and they could not give me any more.

(07:13.8 - 07:17.7)

So at this point now, I'm just trusting God to do

(07:17.8 - 07:22.1)

what he said he would do because I refuse the radiation.

(07:22.2 - 07:24.8)

I asked my doctor, I said, if there's no more

(07:24.9 - 07:26.9)

cancer, why would I want to take the radiation?

(07:27.0 - 07:29.6)

So I said, Is there another way we can go?

(07:29.7 - 07:32.3)

And she said, well, you can come

(07:32.3 - 07:33.8)

back to me in three months.

(07:34.0 - 07:36.1)

If we find no cancer, then you know

(07:36.3 - 07:39.1)

we'll continue for another three months. You know

(07:39.1 - 07:41.1)

That's how we said we would do it. Okay?

(07:41.3 - 07:44.4)

But in hindsight, listening to other people that

(07:44.4 - 07:47.5)

have experienced this already, I'm thinking to take

(07:47.5 - 07:50.6)

the radiation after the third, and so we'll

(07:50.6 - 07:52.3)

see where the journey takes us from there.

(07:52.3 - 07:55.1)

But I want to let people know that in having

(07:55.2 - 07:58.3)

cancer, you really have to change the way you eat.

(07:58.4 - 08:00.3)

It can be very costly.

(08:00.3 - 08:03.3)

And now we're talking about organic foods.

(08:03.4 - 08:06.4)

I am not a rich person, and so for

(08:06.5 - 08:11.1)

me, financially, buying organic food was very costly.

(08:11.2 - 08:13.0)

But I knew that I had to do it.

(08:13.0 - 08:16.8)

I thank God for my sister and my niece, who

(08:16.8 - 08:20.1)

were helping me sometimes buying the food as we went

(08:20.2 - 08:22.5)

along on this journey, not only do you have to

(08:22.6 - 08:26.0)

buy the foods, but you have to juice the vegetables.

(08:26.1 - 08:28.6)

I thank God for my sister, although

(08:28.7 - 08:31.2)

she got on my nerves sometimes. Okay.

(08:31.3 - 08:34.5)

But I have to say, I thank God for her juicing

(08:34.6 - 08:38.1)

for me, and in fact, she is still juicing for me.

(08:38.2 - 08:40.9)

The juices that she juices are all

(08:40.9 - 08:43.7)

organic vegetables, I will tell you.

(08:43.8 - 08:46.2)

Like, she juices the cabbage, which she says

(08:46.3 - 08:49.5)

kills the stem cells of the cancer.

(08:49.6 - 08:52.7)

So that is something that people with cancer

(08:52.8 - 08:55.9)

should automatically begin to juice and drink.

(08:56.0 - 08:58.7)

Who would have thought that cabbage has such

(08:58.8 - 09:02.3)

powerful nutrients in it that it could kill

(09:02.4 - 09:04.8)

the stem cells of the cancer?

(09:04.9 - 09:07.9)

And then the green juices are very important.

(09:08.0 - 09:10.2)

I don't know what exactly my sister

(09:10.3 - 09:12.8)

mixed together to get the green juice.

(09:12.9 - 09:14.5)

So she would have to come on

(09:14.5 - 09:17.3)

and tell you so surprise, y'all.

(09:17.3 - 09:18.6)

(Surprise Sound Effect)

(09:18.6 - 09:23.2)

My lovely mom is here to talk about what types of

(09:23.3 - 09:27.3)

juices she juiced for my aunt through her cancer journey.

(09:27.4 - 09:27.8)

Hi.

(09:27.8 - 09:30.8)

So I use something called the Gerson therapy.

(09:30.9 - 09:34.4)

And with the Gerson therapy, you had to drink eight

(09:34.5 - 09:38.1)

glasses of carrot and apple juice per day, and you had

(09:38.1 - 09:42.3)

to drink four glasses of green juices per day.

(09:42.4 - 09:45.6)

And the green juice consists of green apple,

(09:45.8 - 09:49.9)

red cabbage, swiss chard, endive or lettuce.

(09:49.9 - 09:51.9)

And you drink four of them per day.

(09:52.0 - 09:53.8)

In the morning, you started your day

(09:53.9 - 09:56.0)

with eight ounce of orange juice.

(09:56.1 - 09:59.4)

And then throughout the day, you drank these juices

(09:59.5 - 10:02.5)

to flood the body with nutrients so that cancer

(10:02.5 - 10:05.5)

could not survive in an unhealthy environment.

(10:05.6 - 10:07.2)

So these are the juices that I

(10:07.2 - 10:09.6)

use for my sister also, too.

(10:09.7 - 10:12.5)

I also found out that the white cabbage,

(10:12.7 - 10:15.2)

or either the red cabbage, we juiced that

(10:15.3 - 10:17.2)

And I found out that, that

(10:17.3 - 10:20.0)

also killed cancer stem cells.

(10:20.1 - 10:23.4)

So we have to look at many times vegetables

(10:23.5 - 10:27.1)

and fruits that are um healthy for us and can

(10:27.2 - 10:29.7)

put our body back into a healthy state.

(10:29.8 - 10:31.9)

So those are the juices that I use for

(10:31.9 - 10:34.9)

my sister, and today she's still drinking them.

(10:35.0 - 10:36.0)

Great, mom.

(10:36.0 - 10:37.9)

Thanks for that great information.

(10:38.0 - 10:40.2)

You just dropped some gems on us.

(10:40.2 - 10:42.4)

I really appreciate it.

(10:42.5 - 10:45.2)

(Gems Were Just Dropped Sound Effect)

(10:45.5 - 10:48.2)

And guys, if you know someone who may

(10:48.3 - 10:50.7)

have cancer or maybe going through their cancer

(10:50.7 - 10:53.3)

journey, I strongly suggest that you try it

(10:53.4 - 10:55.7)

cuz it worked really well for my aunt.

(10:55.8 - 10:58.0)

But Auntie we gotta backtrack a bit.

(10:58.0 - 11:01.0)

(Rewind Sound Effect)

(11:01.1 - 11:49.8)

(Instrumental Music)

(11:49.9 - 11:53.7)

I wanna talk about how was the chemotherapy?

(11:53.7 - 11:56.0)

Did you experience any side effects?

(11:56.1 - 11:58.1)

Are you still experiencing some?

(11:58.2 - 12:00.5)

Can you talk more about that experience?

(12:00.7 - 12:02.9)

I really didn't get side effects.

(12:02.9 - 12:04.3)

I was blessed, I'm gonna tell

(12:04.3 - 12:07.0)

you, because I've seen some people where

(12:07.0 - 12:09.6)

they're throwing up their guts, okay? um

(12:10.0 - 12:11.3)

They can't eat. You know

(12:11.5 - 12:13.8)

Some of them get to the place, they can't walk.

(12:14.0 - 12:15.9)

I did not experience any of

(12:16.0 - 12:18.6)

that until the fifth chemo session.

(12:18.7 - 12:21.3)

It was after that chemo session that I

(12:21.4 - 12:23.9)

began to have problems with my feet.

(12:24.0 - 12:28.5)

The doctors said the side effects of the chemo, where you

(12:28.6 - 12:32.7)

get neuropathy and it actually got to the place because

(12:32.7 - 12:34.5)

I'm the type of person I like to walk.

(12:34.5 - 12:35.6)

I like to do walking.

(12:35.7 - 12:38.1)

And when I saw that I was not able to walk

(12:38.1 - 12:41.0)

a block because the pain in my feet would be so

(12:41.0 - 12:44.0)

bad that I just couldn't make it a block.

(12:44.1 - 12:46.9)

I ordered myself a mobility chair.

(12:47.0 - 12:50.3)

The doctor had said he could get me a wheelchair,

(12:50.4 - 12:53.0)

but I don't wanna ride around with a wheelchair

(12:53.1 - 12:54.9)

that is heavy in the back of my car.

(12:54.9 - 12:58.2)

So I got what they call a mobility chair.

(12:58.3 - 13:02.8)

That mobility chair allows me to sit in it when my

(13:02.8 - 13:05.8)

feet are bothering me or if they should start hurting or

(13:05.8 - 13:08.4)

say, like, if I take the kids to an amusement park,

(13:08.5 - 13:11.9)

you know, that involves a lot of walking, and sometimes you

(13:11.9 - 13:14.3)

can't get a rented chair in the amusement park.

(13:14.4 - 13:16.8)

So I take my mobility chair with me,

(13:16.9 - 13:19.5)

and that assists me with walking distance.

(13:19.5 - 13:20.7)

When I get to the place that I

(13:20.7 - 13:22.9)

can no longer walk, I have the chair

(13:23.0 - 13:26.8)

So that's what I found has been a problem for me.

(13:26.9 - 13:29.0)

Even after the chemo, I'm still going through.

(13:29.1 - 13:30.9)

And then there's other little things, like

(13:31.0 - 13:33.8)

you might have periodically itching, or your

(13:33.9 - 13:36.2)

skin might break out for no reason. You know

(13:36.5 - 13:39.0)

You might get pains in your legs.

(13:39.2 - 13:41.5)

I mean, there's different side effects, but

(13:41.6 - 13:44.4)

thank God, minds are not really serious.

(13:44.5 - 13:47.7)

But some people really have it bad with chemo.

(13:47.8 - 13:50.8)

As I stated, chemo can be very wicked.

(13:50.9 - 13:54.5)

To date, even though the doctors gave me uh medication for

(13:54.6 - 13:57.9)

the neuropathy, I really have not had to take it.

(13:57.9 - 13:59.4)

I only had to take it one time.

(13:59.6 - 14:00.8)

I haven't taken it since.

(14:00.9 - 14:03.0)

So I'm dealing with it, and as my body

(14:03.1 - 14:05.5)

gets stronger and get used to not being on

(14:05.5 - 14:09.7)

the chemo, you know it's less and less, less and less side effects

(14:10.1 - 14:11.6)

Well, that's great, auntie.

(14:11.7 - 14:13.5)

I'm glad to hear you on the mend

(14:13.6 - 14:16.4)

What did the neuropathy feel like? Oh, boy.

(14:16.5 - 14:21.2)

Well, the neuropathy feels like somebody's putting pins

(14:21.4 - 14:24.3)

and needles just sticking you in your feet.

(14:24.4 - 14:25.7)

That's what it feels like.

(14:25.8 - 14:28.7)

You also have this thing where it feels

(14:28.7 - 14:30.9)

like underneath the ball of your foot.

(14:31.0 - 14:32.5)

It has, like, a spasm

(14:32.6 - 14:36.1)

And when that happens, you can't drive, you can't walk.

(14:36.2 - 14:38.7)

Even to sit, you still feel that pain

(14:38.9 - 14:41.0)

in your foot because underneath the ball of

(14:41.0 - 14:43.0)

your foot, it actually gets into a knot.

(14:43.0 - 14:45.6)

And at that point, you have to massage

(14:45.7 - 14:48.0)

the foot for it to release itself.

(14:48.1 - 14:50.1)

And that can be very painful.

(14:50.1 - 14:53.6)

Wow, wow! I know it had to be a bit of

(14:53.6 - 14:56.2)

an adjustment to be able to do everything.

(14:56.4 - 15:00.0)

And now sometimes it was hard to do certain things.

(15:00.1 - 15:02.1)

Can you talk about that a little bit more?

(15:02.3 - 15:04.9)

Sometimes after taking chemo, you

(15:04.9 - 15:06.1)

might be a little tired.

(15:06.1 - 15:08.1)

I didn't wanna walk up and down the stairs,

(15:08.1 - 15:11.5)

but unfortunately, my home is nothing but stairs, so I

(15:11.5 - 15:13.8)

have no choice but to walk up and downstairs.

(15:13.9 - 15:16.0)

And for me, that was my exercise.

(15:16.1 - 15:19.8)

My skin has been.... it hasn't been its normal self. Its....

(15:20.2 - 15:23.6)

It's like you get these bumps, but

(15:23.6 - 15:25.6)

they don't feel like regular bumps. You know

(15:26.1 - 15:27.7)

Okay, I'll give you a good example.

(15:27.8 - 15:29.0)

This may sound crazy.

(15:29.1 - 15:31.2)

You ever seen a chicken wing? Yeah.

(15:31.3 - 15:33.7)

And you look at the chicken wing, it got all that

(15:33.7 - 15:37.9)

hair on it mhmm underneath where the hair goes, you see all

(15:37.9 - 15:41.1)

these little bumpy things where the hair is in it. mhmm

(15:41.3 - 15:45.0)

So it seems as though the follicles of your skin

(15:45.1 - 15:48.2)

is protruding out, and it feels rough and bumpy.

(15:48.2 - 15:50.5)

And I had to call the doctor yesterday and

(15:50.5 - 15:52.8)

ask him for some cream, and he said that

(15:52.8 - 15:54.7)

could be the side effects of chemo.

(15:54.7 - 15:58.5)

So chemo has so many different side effects and

(15:58.5 - 16:01.0)

they all don't come out at the same time. Um

(16:01.2 - 16:04.1)

Some of the side effects come out later than others.

(16:04.2 - 16:06.1)

But I'm just grateful to be alive.

(16:06.2 - 16:07.6)

And I want to say this too.

(16:07.7 - 16:10.3)

If you're on a journey with cancer,

(16:10.3 - 16:13.0)

it's good to follow what the doctor says

(16:13.1 - 16:14.7)

and do the juicing and everything.

(16:14.8 - 16:17.8)

But I wanna say to those people that are out

(16:17.9 - 16:21.6)

there and they're on this journey with cancer, I don't know

(16:21.8 - 16:25.7)

who you believe in, who you pray to, but me as

(16:25.8 - 16:29.5)

a minister, I pray to Jehovah God, Yahweh.

(16:29.5 - 16:31.6)

Yeshua, I pray to him.

(16:31.7 - 16:34.7)

And when I go to him in prayer, I'm believing

(16:34.8 - 16:37.9)

in faith that he is going to do the work.

(16:38.0 - 16:41.1)

And when you believe and believe him to do

(16:41.1 - 16:43.9)

the work and work, the tools that the doctors

(16:44.0 - 16:46.9)

have given you, I believe that God will answer

(16:47.0 - 16:49.9)

your prayer, whatever higher power you believe in.

(16:50.0 - 16:53.5)

I believe in faith that he will answer prayer.

(16:53.6 - 16:56.7)

So it's very important to incorporate

(16:56.7 - 16:58.6)

prayer into what you're doing.

(16:58.6 - 17:01.0)

I wanna say I was on a lot of prayer lines.

(17:01.1 - 17:03.6)

I have friends that are on a lot of prayer lines,

(17:03.7 - 17:07.2)

and I had people all around the world praying for me.

(17:07.2 - 17:09.9)

And I believe that all of that

(17:10.0 - 17:12.8)

had a factor in my healing.

(17:12.9 - 17:17.4)

Even the doctor said she has never seen anything like

(17:17.4 - 17:21.2)

what happened with me and how I'm doing so well,

(17:21.3 - 17:24.0)

I was told that I had stage four cancer.

(17:24.1 - 17:26.4)

I was told that I would probably have a

(17:26.5 - 17:29.4)

colossal bag because according to them, when they did

(17:29.5 - 17:33.2)

the Cat scan, they saw cancer on my kidneys,

(17:33.2 - 17:36.2)

they saw cancer on my colon, they saw cancer

(17:36.3 - 17:38.9)

on my intestines, they saw cancer on my liver.

(17:39.0 - 17:41.7)

They saw cancer just about everywhere.

(17:41.9 - 17:44.1)

And according to the doctor, I was

(17:44.2 - 17:45.7)

supposed to have a colostomy bag.

(17:45.7 - 17:47.2)

They was gonna have to take a piece of my

(17:47.3 - 17:50.5)

liver, one of my kidneys probably would have to go.

(17:50.6 - 17:53.2)

It was just nothing good, I can tell you that.

(17:53.3 - 17:57.2)

And so when they got inside and saw that

(17:57.2 - 18:00.3)

there was no cancer in the places where the

(18:00.3 - 18:02.6)

Cat scan was showing, they were shocked.

(18:02.6 - 18:04.4)

I was even told they probably would

(18:04.4 - 18:05.7)

have to close me back up.

(18:05.7 - 18:09.4)

And so I thank God every day of my life that I live.

(18:09.5 - 18:11.2)

And then it didn't stop there.

(18:11.4 - 18:12.3)

Wouldn't you know that?

(18:12.3 - 18:14.0)

When I went back to the doctors, they told

(18:14.0 - 18:16.2)

me they found another cancer that was in stage

(18:16.2 - 18:18.6)

two, and that cancer was very rare.

(18:18.7 - 18:21.2)

So that's the cancer that I have to

(18:21.2 - 18:23.0)

keep going back now for them to check.

(18:23.1 - 18:26.1)

So I'm just believing that I am healed.

(18:26.1 - 18:27.6)

That's what I believe.

(18:27.8 - 18:29.3)

I definitely agree.

(18:29.5 - 18:31.7)

A lot of people that I know and things

(18:31.8 - 18:33.9)

that I heard people say, you know you have to hold

(18:33.9 - 18:36.1)

on to your faith, catch hold of faith and

(18:36.2 - 18:39.1)

believe in something and keep living every day.

(18:39.2 - 18:41.0)

That's how they get through their cancer.

(18:41.1 - 18:44.4)

Journey, so I can definitely understand that. Auntie

(18:44.5 - 18:46.3)

I definitely understand that. Mhmm

(18:46.4 - 18:49.8)

(Delayed Beat Sound Effect)

(18:49.8 - 18:52.1)

Did you, like, mentally struggle with it?

(18:52.2 - 18:54.6)

Was it like hard for you in the beginning?

(18:54.7 - 18:58.0)

Okay, so stage four didn't bother me. Mhmm Okay.

(18:58.1 - 19:00.3)

It was when she said to me, we're

(19:00.3 - 19:02.0)

gonna have to take a kidney, right?

(19:02.0 - 19:05.2)

You're gonna have to have a colostomy bag, and we

(19:05.3 - 19:08.1)

may have to close you up when we get inside because

(19:08.2 - 19:10.8)

of all the cancer that we're seeing on your organs.

(19:10.9 - 19:11.8)

That bothered.

(19:11.8 - 19:14.6)

And I had said I wasn't gonna say anything

(19:14.6 - 19:18.6)

to my family because I don't want to worry anybody. You know

(19:18.6 - 19:21.5)

We're all appointed a time to come into the

(19:21.5 - 19:23.9)

world, and we're appointed a time to exit.

(19:24.0 - 19:25.7)

And if that was my time, I didn't wanna

(19:25.7 - 19:28.2)

worry anybody, I didn't wanna stress anybody. You know

(19:28.3 - 19:31.6)

And my children were already going through enough just

(19:31.7 - 19:33.3)

dealing with the fact that I had it.

(19:33.3 - 19:35.3)

I mean, my son used to be balled up at

(19:35.3 - 19:38.1)

a knot downstairs in a fetal position, just laying there,

(19:38.1 - 19:40.4)

like, crying, and I would walk in and I would

(19:40.5 - 19:43.1)

know he was crying as well as the patient.

(19:43.2 - 19:45.3)

It takes a lot. You know

(19:45.3 - 19:49.0)

And to see your family member drop in weight, I mean, I

(19:49.1 - 19:53.9)

had dropped weight so quick, 15, 20 pounds in a week, you know and

(19:53.9 - 19:56.6)

even the doctors were concerned about the weight loss.

(19:56.7 - 19:59.3)

But this is the wickedness of chemo.

(19:59.4 - 20:02.4)

It will make you lose weight like no tomorrow. You know

(20:02.4 - 20:05.8)

So to see your family going through what they're going

(20:05.9 - 20:08.3)

through, it kind of hurt me, and I didn't want

(20:08.3 - 20:11.6)

my family to really be involved with so much. Right

(20:11.6 - 20:16.0)

Although, you're not gonna stop my sister because she's

(20:16.0 - 20:20.1)

gonna find out whatever she needs to find out. Yeah My mom... she's like a pitbull

(20:20.1 - 20:23.8)

My mom has, like, an honorary doctorate degree at this

(20:23.8 - 20:27.3)

point in medical stuff, so and I agree with you, Auntie.

(20:27.3 - 20:29.8)

I think when, you know, a family member

(20:29.8 - 20:31.8)

has cancer, it takes a toll on everyone.

(20:31.9 - 20:34.5)

It's not just the person yes dealing with the cancer.

(20:34.5 - 20:36.2)

It does take a toll on everyone.

(20:36.4 - 20:38.2)

And I'm not gon lie that used

(20:38.3 - 20:39.7)

to get on my nerves when you tried

(20:39.8 - 20:42.5)

to hide the information and didn't tell us.

(20:42.6 - 20:44.8)

I was like, I'd rather she tell us than keep

(20:44.9 - 20:47.5)

it a secret cuz I wanna know everything.

(20:47.7 - 20:49.5)

I wanna be able to help.

(20:49.5 - 20:53.6)

I definitely understand your thought process and like you know trying to

(20:53.6 - 20:56.5)

protect us, but that was frustrating for me.

(20:56.6 - 20:59.1)

I was like, I wanna know because I wanna help you know

(20:59.3 - 21:01.5)

I wanna be there to support you.

(21:01.5 - 21:05.1)

So it's always that difficult, delicate balance. You know

(21:05.2 - 21:07.7)

You wanna be there to support them, but you

(21:07.7 - 21:09.7)

also know that they kind of have to take time

(21:09.8 - 21:13.1)

to process it and go through the journey as well.

(21:13.3 - 21:13.9)

Yes, it is.

(21:13.9 - 21:17.0)

And let's not forget that we lost our mother last year.

(21:17.1 - 21:19.0)

We lost our brother this year.

(21:19.1 - 21:20.6)

So it was so much going on.

(21:20.7 - 21:23.7)

I didn't wanna put any more on the family.

(21:23.7 - 21:26.1)

Yeah, I definitely understand that.

(21:26.1 - 22:15.5)

(Instrumental Music)

(22:15.6 - 22:18.7)

(Fun Fact Sound Effect)

(22:18.7 - 22:21.2)

When my aunt says that you know the cancer went

(22:21.2 - 22:23.5)

to the kidneys and they said that she

(22:23.5 - 22:25.4)

was gonna need a colostomy bag.

(22:25.6 - 22:28.4)

That just means that the cancer metastasized.

(22:28.5 - 22:31.3)

So it went to other parts of the body than where

(22:31.3 - 22:32.8)

it was originally

(22:32.9 - 22:35.9)

(Cartoon Twinkle Sound Effect)

(22:35.9 - 22:39.2)

So because what it was supposed to look like

(22:39.2 - 22:43.0)

it definitely did not turn out anything like it.

(22:43.0 - 22:48.5)

So everything, faith, God, the juicing, and us supporting

(22:48.6 - 22:50.5)

her is what got her to this point.

(22:50.6 - 22:53.6)

And thankfully would you like to share the news?

(22:53.8 - 22:55.5)

Say I'm cancer free.

(22:55.5 - 23:26.2)

(Cheering Sound Effect)

(23:26.2 - 23:28.2)

I'm happy about that.

(23:28.3 - 23:29.9)

I still have to go back

(23:30.0 - 23:32.2)

every three months to be monitored.

(23:32.2 - 23:36.7)

And as I stated, I'm contemplating taking the radiation,

(23:36.8 - 23:38.5)

although I really don't wanna take it.

(23:38.5 - 23:40.8)

But if everything keeps looking good, every time I

(23:40.8 - 23:42.3)

go back, I'm not gonna take it.

(23:42.5 - 23:45.3)

So I thank God for, for everything and

(23:45.4 - 23:47.1)

I thank God for this podcast.

(23:47.2 - 23:49.5)

And I wana tell the people out

(23:49.5 - 23:52.5)

there that's going through cancer, it's not over

(23:52.8 - 23:55.8)

until our Creator says it's over.

(23:56.0 - 23:58.5)

And so keep the faith.

(23:58.6 - 24:03.0)

One thing I have learned, cancer is caused by stress.

(24:03.0 - 24:05.9)

And the way we eat, you have to leave red meat alone.

(24:06.1 - 24:08.6)

Hamburger, meat, steak, all those good

(24:08.6 - 24:09.9)

things that we love to eat.

(24:10.0 - 24:13.1)

I love me a good T bone steak.

(24:13.1 - 24:14.7)

had to leave all of that alone.

(24:14.8 - 24:16.5)

You have to stop with the sugar.

(24:16.5 - 24:18.2)

No more sugar. Okay?

(24:18.3 - 24:21.3)

I do use aguave every now and then,

(24:21.4 - 24:23.8)

but I use that in place of the sugar.

(24:23.9 - 24:27.8)

And you know we have to eat more healthier, fresh vegetables.

(24:27.9 - 24:30.7)

I have a little garden out in my backyard where I

(24:30.7 - 24:35.5)

grow my green peppers and things like that, tomatoes, so that

(24:35.6 - 24:38.0)

I don't have to buy everything in the store.

(24:38.1 - 24:39.9)

So you might wanna think about

(24:40.0 - 24:43.5)

growing your own indoor or outdoor garden.

(24:43.6 - 24:45.3)

So you know think about it.

(24:45.3 - 24:46.3)

Just think about it.

(24:46.4 - 24:48.0)

We look for different kinds of ways

(24:48.1 - 24:51.5)

to help eliminate the cost of things.

(24:51.6 - 24:54.3)

And let's not forget the cancer society.

(24:54.4 - 24:57.2)

There's a woman there that helped me a lot.

(24:57.2 - 24:59.9)

She even went to my appointment, and

(24:59.9 - 25:02.1)

I thank God for her, sister Carey.

(25:02.2 - 25:03.9)

She went with me on those appointments.

(25:04.0 - 25:05.4)

She asked the questions that I

(25:05.4 - 25:06.9)

didn't know how to answer.

(25:07.0 - 25:10.8)

And I wana give a shout out to Albert Einstein.

(25:10.9 - 25:13.7)

The Montefiore group from Albert Einstein.

(25:13.8 - 25:16.3)

They have a team of workers.

(25:16.5 - 25:18.3)

You don't have to go out of the

(25:18.3 - 25:20.6)

state to get a good cancer team.

(25:20.7 - 25:23.7)

They have a good cancer team there that

(25:23.8 - 25:26.1)

has had great success with the things that

(25:26.2 - 25:29.3)

they do to help people fight cancer.

(25:29.4 - 25:31.6)

Yeah, I think I will second that.

(25:31.7 - 25:35.3)

And I would say that trying to beat cancer or

(25:35.4 - 25:38.9)

overcome it, I think it's a whole lifestyle change, right?

(25:38.9 - 25:40.2)

You have to change the way you

(25:40.2 - 25:42.7)

eat, yes change your outlook on life.

(25:42.8 - 25:44.9)

You have to hold on to your faith.

(25:45.0 - 25:47.2)

So it's a whole lifestyle change.

(25:47.2 - 25:50.0)

And it could be a lot coming at you so fast.

(25:50.1 - 25:52.7)

But take it in small doses, take it

(25:52.8 - 25:56.9)

in stride, and you will definitely beat cancer. Definitely

(25:57.0 - 26:00.0)

And my hair is growing back. Niecey see it?

(26:00.1 - 26:04.0)

It's growing back. Aww its growing back everyone, its growing back

(26:04.1 - 26:06.7)

I'm super excited for her. I love it.

(26:06.8 - 26:11.0)

So cancer is definitely not a death sentence today.

(26:11.1 - 26:13.5)

You can definitely beat it.

(26:13.5 - 27:02.6)

(Instrumental Music)

(27:02.6 - 27:06.9)

So now it is time for the quote of the episode.

(27:06.9 - 27:08.4)

Take it away, Auntie.

(27:08.5 - 27:12.8)

I stand on Hebrews eleven one now.

(27:12.9 - 27:16.0)

Faith is the substance of things hoped for

(27:16.1 - 27:18.6)

and the evidence of things not seen.

(27:18.6 - 27:21.1)

And I think that just encompasses this

(27:21.1 - 27:23.0)

whole episode as a whole, right?

(27:23.1 - 27:26.4)

It may look like something, but that doesn't necessarily

(27:26.4 - 27:28.2)

mean it has to turn out like that.

(27:28.3 - 27:30.0)

If you hold on to your faith

(27:30.0 - 27:33.3)

and you believe, everything will work out. So

(27:33.3 - 27:35.9)

Thank you so much Auntie, for coming on.

(27:35.9 - 27:38.0)

I really appreciate it.

(27:38.2 - 27:40.5)
